ask,beg, demand, inquire의 쓰임을 알아봅시다.

 

ask는 영어에서 뒤에 오는 어순에 따라서 다양한 의미를 가질 수 있습니다.

몇 형식인지를 하나 하나 따지는 것 보다는 이러한 어순에 따라 어떤 의미를 가지는 지를 기억하는 것이 훨씬 유익하다고 생각합니다.

시험 문제에서는 절대로 문법 용어가 나오지 않습니다. 다만 그 문법 용어의 개념을 이해하고 그 쓰임을 이해하는 것이 중요한 것입니다.

첫번째는 ask (someone) for (something) 이라는 어순으로 ~에게 ~를 부탁하다, 물어보다, 요청하다 정도의 의미 입니다.

1. She asked her friend for advice on the upcoming job interview.
   • 그녀는 다가오는 취업 면접에 대한 조언을 친구에게 부탁했습니다.
     ask (sb) (for something) 은 (~을 달라고) 부탁하다/요청하다 라는 의미입니다.
2. I asked the waiter for a menu to browse the options.
   • 나는 선택지를 살펴보기 위해 웨이터에게 메뉴를 물었다.
3. They are asking the audience for feedback on the new product design.
   • 그들은 새로운 제품 디자인에 대한 관객의 피드백을 요청하고 있다.
4. He asked his colleagues for input before finalizing the project proposal.
   • 그는 프로젝트 제안을 확정하기 전에 동료들에게 의견을 물었다.
5. The customer is asking the sales representative for clarification on the warranty terms.
   • 고객은 보증 조건에 대해 명확한 설명을 요청하고 있다.

그 다음으로 ask (something) of (someone) 입니다. ~에게 ~를 청하다, 질문하다, 부탁하다

1. She asked a favor of her friend, requesting help with moving to a new apartment.
   • 그녀는 새 아파트로 이사할 때 친구에게 도움을 청하며 은혜를 청했다.
2. The teacher asked a question of the students, encouraging class participation.
   • 선생님은 학생들에게 질문을 하며 수업 참여를 촉구했다.

   • 어려운 결정 앞에서 그는 자문을 구하여 멘토에게 물었다.

   • 매니저는 팀에게 보고서를 요청하며 프로젝트 진행 상황을 업데이트하기를 부탁했다.
